Are your frown lines becoming more visible? Do you wish you could smooth away those crow’s feet? If you answered yes, then it’s time to call MHTA to learn more about Botox® Cosmetic. Botox® is an injectable solution which helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines on face.
Botox is known as anti-aging therapy. The use of Botox® helps diminish wrinkle lines from the face. These lines are mainly found in areas such as: lines between eyebrows (“frown lines”), and lines at the corner of eyes (“crows feet”). Botox® is a diluted form of botulism toxin (type A). The drug consists of a very small amount of toxin , so the risk of getting botulism is minimal. The mechanism of action involves the blockage of nerve transmission, thus relaxes the underlying muscles. The injection procedure takes about 10 to 20 minutes. It can be done during lunch break , and you can return back to work the same day. The anti-wrinkle effects usually last for about four to six months and subsequent injection is required to maintain the effects. At MHTA, our doctor will personally deliver the injection.

There are several possible side effects of Botox treatment, but are minimal. There may be a mild stinging sensation as the Botox injection is performed. Mild weakness or paralysis of the eyelid (ptosis) or brow may occur with drooping of the eyelid or brow, lasting usually 2-3 weeks. This is temporary and may not even be noticed by the patient. The incidence of ptosis is approximately 2%. The other Botox side effects include transient headache, numbness or bruising, which are uncommon.
